Dedicating Julie Mae to the Lord

On Mother’s Day we dedicated Julie to the Lord at Mars Hill Church.  It was a wonderful time to celebrate our precious gift that God has given us in her.  Our commitment is to teach Julie about God, to pray for her throughout her life, and to encourage her towards one day making a decision to give her life to Jesus Christ.  It was a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day for me, meditating on the responsibility that Brandon and I have been given to disciple our daughter in the faith.

Psalm 78:4 says “We will not hide from their children, but tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”

Our verse that we chose for Julie was Jeremiah 29:11-13.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

The Gift of a Child

God has blessed the union
Of a husband and a wife
With a beautiful little baby
Bringing joy into their lives.

For children are blessings
Sent from God above
A precious gift heaven sent
An expression of God’s love.

On the foundation of this love,
May this child truly grow
Discovering the truths of God
And one day come to know

That Jesus Christ is Lord of all
And He has an awesome plan,
A destiny only they can fulfill
As they take Him by the hand.

And walk with Him every day
With God’s vision for their lives
And godly passion to fulfill
The commission of Jesus Christ.
