Extreme Hospitality: Home Edition

About a year ago I read a book about hospitality.  It was a really challenging book, and definitely made me take a look at where, or if, I was being hospitable in my own life.  I have definitely benefited from the hospitality and generosity of others in the past, like when my Aunt and Uncle let me live with them for a period of time, and when those in my church community have brought me meals during times of illness, etc.  One of the suggestions in the hospitality book was to schedule in time to be hospitable to others, and to stick to it.  Well, I had scheduled in time, but had failed miserably to follow through, serve others, and make practicing hospitality a habit.  Then we had an opportunity to show hospitality to my brother-in-law come up last year right before Christmas.  Certainly, one way to grow in hospitality and have it built in to your schedule is to let someone move in with you.  So the adventure began… Continue reading “Extreme Hospitality: Home Edition”

God’s Works Are Wonderful!

Brandon and I are so excited in this phase of life, preparing to have a baby. I feel so privileged to be on this journey toward parenthood, and am overjoyed that God has blessed us this way. It is such a miracle the way a new person is created, God knows every detail, and handcrafts each individual person. Psalm 139:13-16 say: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
