Here is the next installment of my project of praying through the psalms in one year. My goal in this is to become a better worshiper of God and to let my heart cry out to and glorify Him through my prayers.
So here goes… my prayers are in italics
Psalm 3
A Psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
1 O Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
Lord, I thank you that you are faithful and will deliver me. I pray that you help me to have faith that you will bring me through a situation, even when it seems like all the odds are against me.
3 But you are a shield around me, O Lord;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
Lord, thank you for being my protector. Thank you that I do not need to hang my head in shame, but that you lift up my head.
4 To the Lord I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
Lord, thank you that I get to be in relationship with you. I am so grateful that you hear my prayers and also answer them. I pray that I may never cease to be amazed at how awesome that truly is!
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
I pray that I truly appreciate each day I’m given, and receive it as a gift from you. Thank you Lord for giving me all that I need.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.
Lord, help me to not be fearful about life, but to be bold and confident, because I have a wonderful savior who provides for me.
7 Arise, O Lord!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
Lord, I trust that you can and will deliver me from all the troubles of this world, in this life or the next. Thank you that I don’t need to seek other forms of deliverance, because it comes from you.
